Our volunteer Michael has been teaching English classes at Hamro Ghar and according to him over the past two months, there has been a gradual improvement in the student’s confidence and overall ability. The vast majority of the children seem to enjoy participating in classes, and usually make a strong effort to learn and follow instructions. A few of the younger children still encounter some difficulty in understanding the vocabulary or grasping the main point of the lessons.
- Vocational Training:
The sewing lessons are still continuing. Women are coming regularly for training.
- Food:
Children are having their meals on-time. Kitchen is maintained regularly.

- Other Updates:
Our HG is flourishing with many new children. There are now altogether 49 children, staying in HG. Among them, 29 are joining formal education and remaining of them is involved in our non-formal classes. On an average, 30-35 children are coming on a daily basis to our HG to take non-formal classes and utilise the facilities there.
“Fishing” of children is still continuing. We are arranging breakfast for street children of Kathmandu Durbar Square area. 25-30 children are coming on daily basis to have breakfast with our staff and volunteers. We are trying to help children who are willing to come out from the street life and join our shelter home “Hamro Ghar”. We are taking some children willing to go to HG and use the facility there like shower, playground etc. Also, we are doing medical check-up of these children and if needed providing them with medicine.
We have 2 members from Aiutare i Bambini, Monica Felizzi and Valeria Maringoni. They are here to interact with the children of Hamro-Ghar, renewing the files of the children including both old and new ones. They also provided children balloons written on it “Aiutare i Bambini” and playing material skipping ropes to the children.
On 20th January, Javice Agrawal provided our children refreshments like sweets, chocolates.
2. MISCELLANEOUS
The good news is that we are now implementing partners of UNFPA. As per our agreement with UNFPA, we managed to provide free surgery for 100 women, identified with third degree uterine prolapse in our previous health camps, in Kathmandu Manmohan Memorial Community Hospital. Our final report has been submitted to UNFPA regarding our activities with them.
For “Hamro Mutu”, screening of patients is going on and we are doing our best to help more and more patients in need.
